Tara + Scott | A Snowy Seattle Winter Couple's Session

This has been the craziest February! I’ve lived in Seattle for five years and cannot believe how much snow we’ve seen this winter. In Chicago, where I’m from, this would be totally normal, but here it’s just so magical and fun. I love seeing how the landscape transforms when covered with a crisp dusting of beautiful white snow. It clings to the trees and makes them sleepy under its weight, and there’s a hush that comes over the world as we bundle and hibernate until the damn roads are finally clear! I’m secretly in love with the entrapment, though.

Tara & Scott braved the snow and arrived in a big, sturdy truck that could handle it well — and I hopped in and we made our way to this cozy little grove for some fun.

Enjoy.

Hayley + Brandon | A Moody Seattle Winter Engagement Session at Lincoln Park

When I received the inquiry from Hayley about their wedding at the base of Mt. Rainier this summer, I was so excited. Then we met for a phone call and I got even more excited. And then they walked up to our meeting spot and we chatted for like a minute and a half and I got the MOST excited!

But then I got home and threw these images into Lightroom and got the MOST EXCITED EVER.

I absolutely love when couples think their photos will be awkward or weird — I think by speaking it and letting those fears breathe it actually makes for an openness and vulnerability at the session that ends in authentic, sincere, amazing moments which this is just chock full of. Never be afraid to share how you’re feeling — I can approach the session from a whole new perspective and we get the outcome below.

Enjoy.

Taylor + Andy | A Sun-Drenched Discovery Park Engagement

As I sit typing this, I have my five month old baby laying on his little Nemo playmat with dangling fish and sea creatures — and It’s making me realize that Taylor and Andy’s was the first wedding I booked after having the baby. He was still pretty new when we headed out to do their engagement session. Those first few trips out felt triumphant, and coming back to myself after the very giving process of labor and delivery.

My favorite sessions are the ones where we have space to explore, when the time just flies, and there are chapters of laughter, sincerity, quiet and noise. These sessions seem to live and breathe, and rather than considering an individual photo, the gallery is experienced as a whole — one frame leading to the next in a cadence.

Enjoy.
