Ally + Josh | A PNW Mountain Engagement

When these two reached out about their incredible wedding at the Astor Ruins next spring, I dearly, dearly hoped that we could work together. Ally’s vision for the day includes a sunrise first look and a morning ceremony overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Count. Me. In.

Meeting creative couples who really create their wedding day around their uniqueness make this job so much fun. Your wedding is such a great chance to pull out the stops and do a party YOUR way.

Also, Ally taught me this morning that chickens are the closest living relative of dinosaurs and now I want a daily fact.

Enjoy.

Kaylena + Ryan | A Backyard Summer Wedding in the Cascades

Kaylena and Ryan’s wedding was on one of those summer days where the sky is wide and blue and scattered with puffy clouds, where the breeze is warm and kind and fills the air with fragrant scents of the grass of her grandfather’s property underfoot, the sounds of laughter of a gathering of family and friends, and the glow of starlight when the sun finally admitted defeat to the night after hours and hours of glorious glow. One of the rare nights where the air stays warm and feels like an embrace — I miss those coming from the Midwest.

Kaylena left no detail unattended. Everything was so romantic, and the gorgeous florals were dripping in reds and pinks. As the sun set over the reception tables, fairy lights lit up the tables and candles flickered in the twilight. I mean it was DREAMY.

Enjoy.

Hayley + Brandon | A Moody Seattle Winter Engagement Session at Lincoln Park

When I received the inquiry from Hayley about their wedding at the base of Mt. Rainier this summer, I was so excited. Then we met for a phone call and I got even more excited. And then they walked up to our meeting spot and we chatted for like a minute and a half and I got the MOST excited!

But then I got home and threw these images into Lightroom and got the MOST EXCITED EVER.

I absolutely love when couples think their photos will be awkward or weird — I think by speaking it and letting those fears breathe it actually makes for an openness and vulnerability at the session that ends in authentic, sincere, amazing moments which this is just chock full of. Never be afraid to share how you’re feeling — I can approach the session from a whole new perspective and we get the outcome below.

Enjoy.
