MaiLinh + Jake | Ballard Locks Winter Engagement

Winter means engagement sessions! It’s my favorite way to get to know my wedding couples, to find out what makes them laugh and to see the way they interact with each other. I’m always thrilled and grateful for the little glimpse into their lives.

We started this session with their EXTREMELY spry 8-year-old dog, and when life got too overstimulating for her, we continued on our own. :) I don’t get to spend enough time at the Locks, but they’re such an iconic part of Seattle history. On this particular day, a big day-cruise boat with Christmas EVERYTHING came through and made a performance, so it was busier than usual, but it’s usually a quiet escape in the city.

Enjoy.

Keegan + Colin | Seattle In Home Session

We celebrated their new home (and new kitten OMG) with a photo sesh. Indoor shoots are always a bit of a mystery when it comes to light, but I loved the way the sun beamed through the window and cast a harsh spot right through the center of their place. You’ll see it! No two days are the same, even in the same home, so light is the biggest changing factor. Whether it’s dark and rainy or bright and sunny, an in-home session will usually always work. Feast your eyes!

Rachel + Jon | Lincoln Park West Seattle Engagement

I had completely forgotten that Rachel told me she was a dancer. We showed up to our shooting spot at Lincoln Park, wandered in a ways and I saw a great clearing to get started. I love open space and outdoor locations the most for shooting. No one’s around to watch, there’s room to move, and fresh pine air never hurt anyone. I digress. I forgot she told me she was a dancer. I told them to just move around together a bit while holding hands, more so I could work on my lighting and settings, and what I got was chemistry made visible with the way these two worked across this forest floor — all within 5 seconds. What followed was an hour of side-splitting laughter. I clicked about 3 million images this whole session and I just love it. I’m so excited to shoot their wedding next month.

Katelyn + Drew | A Chelan Backyard Wedding

I’m not even sure where to begin with these two. When I met Katelyn & Drew for their engagement session, I knew they were incredible authentic, kind, genuine souls. But it wasn’t until their wedding day that I was completely floored at their dedication to one another, the beauty of the love of their friends and family, and the joy that everyone shared as they started their life in union.

I was amazed at how much was done by friends and family. Her family friend, Krishna, did the amazing florals and table decor, including Kateyln’s beautiful flower crown, and Katelyn did her own makeup and hair. Katelyn styled the whole thing, with BHLDN velvet dresses for the bridesmaids and a gorgeous backless lace dress and killer Sam Edelman shoes that created a romantic and luxe bohemian gathering that I was so dang lucky to be a part of.

I cried during the ceremony as the small A-frame chapel filled with powerful song. Everyone was swept up in the music, and it felt profound to bear witness. As I walked the aisle from back to front, the music got even louder and I swear I could feel it in my bones. It completely embodied the feeling of the day.

Katelyn & Drew, thank you, thank you, thank you for letting me capture this for you.
