Sometimes you don't have to drive hours and hours to get to the perfect location. This lovely wooded spot is actually right in Mill Creek, WA. It's one of my favorite spots to go for a walk or jog, and made for an awesome photo spot. Close parking, short walk, whole thing said and done in just over an hour. :)

When it came to photographing Amy Paine of Amy Catherine Photography, I knew that I wanted to do my due diligence in making the most beautiful photos possible. Amy has photographed over 100 women for her "Just Me" project, which features women of all ages, sizes, ethnicities and life experiences, set in a natural light studio with no hair or makeup, with the idea of embracing ourselves just as we are. It's a powerful project that is continuing on now.
In taking on boudoir as an aspect of my business, I wanted to focus on capturing softness, light, movement and individuality. There are a lot of different boudoir photographers out there, and I want to do this a bit differently. I'm in love with the result of our session and am excited to share some images with you here.

Brittani and Connor are the ultimate sweet love story. They met and started dating in high school, got married and moved to Seattle with the Navy. We headed out in some brutal Everett traffic but we made it to Deception Pass and guys -- NO ONE WAS THERE. It was kind of crazy, because it was the Friday night of Memorial Day weekend. I've been up there several times, but I've never had such free reign. It was pretty amazing! We wandered around the amazing park and my photographer heart was in heaven. Such beautiful lighting and so many great spots to shoot. My absolute favorite part of couple sessions is watching the couple unwind and play together -- the pressure falls away and you just get into this amazing groove and make beautiful images. Heart meets art, for sure.

I think it's equal parts anticipation of our little one and the wonder of the bond between mothers and children, but I'm absolutely LOVING motherhood photo sessions. It's such a great gift to give to yourself and to your children. I've talked to many friends and we all feel like we don't have enough photos of ourselves with our own moms. Just a few here and there from birthday parties and vacations, if we're lucky! There's something so magical about these to me -- the subject is so specific, tangible and deeply felt. Full family sessions are wonderful, and I highly recommend a yearly session for young families, but motherhood sessions feel unique and special. I loved watching these two interact and just spend a warm sunny evening hanging out, nothing else to do but be there together in that moment. That alone is a win in our busy daily lives! Hope you love them as much as I do.
