This contemporary custom home brings together clean architectural lines, warm natural materials, and thoughtfully considered interiors.

Designed by Roger MacPherson and Dan Buchser, with interiors by Kara Stupfel and construction by MacPherson Construction & Design, the home balances a strong architectural framework with a warm, inviting approach to residential design.

Natural wood, stone, expansive windows, and layered furnishings create a palette that feels both refined and relaxed. Throughout the home, contemporary architectural details are softened by tactile materials and carefully selected furnishings, creating spaces that feel sophisticated without becoming overly formal.

As a Seattle interior photographer, I focused on the relationship between the architecture, interiors, and natural light throughout the home. Wide architectural compositions establish the flow and proportions of each space, while closer images highlight the craftsmanship, material details, and thoughtful interior styling.

The result is a home where architecture and interiors feel completely integrated, with a restrained material palette and a strong emphasis on warmth, texture, and livability.

Shoreline Kitchen Photography | Seattle Interior Photographer

This warm, functional kitchen remodel in Shoreline, Washington was designed around the realities of everyday family life. Originally built in 2001, the home had good bones but a dated, builder-grade kitchen that no longer worked for the family. BB Meyer Design reimagined the kitchen and adjoining sitting room as a more cohesive, functional space designed to grow with their family.

The renovation centered around improving both the flow and functionality of the space. An awkward peninsula was removed in favor of a central island, circulation was reworked, and a custom pantry wall was added to provide much-needed storage. A nearby dining room bar also adds a practical spot for entertaining.

The palette is warm and understated, with painted cabinetry in Sherwin-Williams Natural Linen paired with Cambria Dovestone Quartz countertops and backsplash. The quartz was carried around the kitchen window, creating a subtle architectural frame while keeping the overall space light and cohesive. Competition Cabinets built the custom cabinetry.

The goal was never to create a kitchen that felt overly precious. Instead, the design embraces the messiness and movement of real family life while still feeling elevated and considered. Warm materials, layered details, and thoughtful storage make the space both beautiful and genuinely usable.

I photographed the project for Rue, focusing on the details that make the renovation work so well: the relationship between the kitchen and adjoining spaces, the warmth of the materials, the functionality built into the cabinetry, and the everyday moments that make the space feel lived in.

Seattle Interior Photography | Traditional Sunlit Kitchen Design

Photographing this Traditional Sunlit Kitchen, designed by Board & Vellum, was such a rewarding experience. The space is filled with natural light and balances traditional detailing with a fresh, livable feel. Every element — from the soft white cabinetry to the warm wood accents — was chosen to create a kitchen that feels timeless without being too formal.

The design layers classic features like detailed millwork, a custom range hood, and subtle marble textures with a layout that feels open and connected. The darker island grounds the space while the lighter countertops and backsplash keep it bright and easygoing. It’s the kind of kitchen that feels welcoming from the first step in — elegant but approachable, with thoughtful touches everywhere you look.

Triple Bottom Line Construction, a Seattle-based builder I've worked with many times, brought the design to life with beautiful craftsmanship and attention to every detail. Their work consistently makes a space feel solid and intentional, which always comes through in the final photographs.
